Hase-dera

長谷寺

Hase, Kamakura · 鎌倉

A terraced temple above Hase, with a nine-metre gilded Kannon, a cave shrine at the bottom and a hydrangea path winding up the slope.

Why it’s worth it

In June the hydrangea path is timed-ticketed and worth the wait. Any month, the terrace looks straight out over the bay.
